GET IN TOON with COMIC CLUBHOUSE is an exciting program that allows young people the opportunity to be inspired and let their imaginations soar! Our aim is to teach kids and teens about the comic book/graphic novel industry, animation, and puppetry.
COMIC CLUBHOUSE was founded by Mike Lopez – who has been a teacher & school administrator for over 10 years. As an educator, Mike has brought his passion for the arts into the classroom by conducting after-school programs & organizing special events and field trips for his students, giving them the opportunity to meet, learn, & work with professionals in arts and media.
Mike has worked along several artists/writers/performers, from companies such as Archie Comics, DC Comics, and The Jim Henson Company, and has traveled along the East Coast, enlightening educators and inspiring young people with family activities & programming at various conventions and charity events.
Mike is also the co-creator & writer of “Life’s A Beach”, which follows the adventures of the good-natured kids of Avalon Beach – inspired by “Happy Days”, “Archie” & the classic beach movies. As an avid fan and expert of classic animation, Mike has been able to share his knowledge of Hanna Barbera cartoons with two appearances on the hit AMC series “Comic Book Men”. It is Mike’s & the team’s goal to reach & creatively inspire as many young people as we can.
